HIV testing is essential so that you may know whether or not you may have HIV. • HIV Antibody Test (3rd Generation HIV Test) – the HIV Antibody Test is a blood test that searches the blood sample for antibodies which were created by the B cells in the immune system in response to the invasion of the HIV type 1 or type 2.
• HIV Antibody Test (4^th Generation HIV Test) – also known as Antigen Combination Test is a blood test where the antibodies that the immune system makes are detected, to fight off HIV type 1 or type 2, and the antigens of the HIV
• Viral load (HIV RNA Test) – this is a blood test which measures the amount of virus in the body. The main goal for HIV treatment is to have an undetectable viral load, after starting with the HIV medicine. This will then reduce the chances of opportunistic infection and other HIV related complications.
